Iran actress turns campaign ambassador

Famed Iran actress Sahar Dolatshahi has been named as ambassador for a campaign helping women in the country.

“Armaghan” campaign, roughly translated as “gift” in English, chose the actress as an appointee to pursue its cause to help women behind bars for unintentional crimes.

The actress was quoted by the media as saying that she is set to work for this campaign and enlighten people regarding the plans to help such women.

Fund raising ceremonies to release prisoners of unintentional crimes are commonly held during various religious and cultural occasions in the country.

Dolatshahi is an Iranian film, television and stage actress. She has worked with many famous directors in films such as 'Gold and Copper' (2008), for which she was nominated for a Best Actress in a Supporting Role Award at the 14th Iran Cinema Celebration.

Some of the series she has appeared in are 'The Passengers' (2009), 'No Pain, No Gain' (2010), 'Family Conspiracy' (2010), 'Heart of Ice' (2011) and 'Red Cap' (2015).

Dolatshahi’s appearance in Ice Age (2014) grabbed her Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress In a Supporting Role from Fajr Film Festival.
